It is true. For my girl's school, there are 2 NETs.

Government Fund:1, other than that, the school has find their own source.

一般津貼學校只有一位, 直資/私校則視乎個別學校安排.
我囡囡今年學校有1+16位NETS, 原因係教育學院的特別資源. 所以D小朋友會有好多機會要運用英語.這是學校給學生的第一份開學禮物.

係呀, 好多人話呢間係"local international school"

, 但d 中文又好local ! 所以我叩門都要入呢間

, 其實我係最鐘意間學校位於半山既環境 (空氣一流, 又靜) 同教學理念至真 (好似外國小學既方針)! 因我仔之前係外地讀書, 返到黎, 係呢間學校好適應, 勁喜歡返學!

是實習, 他們會跟老師一同上課 (as assistants) 和校內跟學生交通 e.g. play games, read books to them, or just chatting with them etc... Sounds like a casual and natural setting, doesn't it? It probably helps a lot at encouraging kids to use English in daily basis I suppose. Personally it doesn't make a big difference to my son cos' English is his mother tongue but I am sure he loves seeing and talking with these NETs as well.

Actually I am looking forward to seeing young NETs work at any of the schools in HK cos' most of them are very energetic (I guess) and they love playing with kids. I believe that kids learn through playing...so...

NETs + local school books + local school exercises + 35 sudents a class + local school tests & exams = waste of money in hiring the NETs.

I am not sure. The NETs do not understand thoroughly the HK education system, tests and exams, HK students' typical limitations, etc. A NET with fully western education and culture is required to ...

My son went to a local school and they have had 4 NETs for the last few years....we had to pay $400 a year to hire the extra three. I believe it is better than none, or at least for quite a bunch of kids who are willing to touch Eng more they can with these extra resources. The NETs even with 4, for a primary school with over 1000 students will still be very little time for each, but it's already 4 times the "average" ones. In my son's school with these 4 people they were able to create just a couple more English extra-curriculum activities so those who are interested can surely join (free).

聽說NET流失大,難請人,
教學方法跟本地老師不同,
所以較難合作和交流,
他們大多完成合約便離港,
心態可能不同,所以我對他們的期望不大,
我比較喜歡外地回流的中國人教英文

每間學校應該唔同既..........我囡囡都係PLK小學讀, 佢學校有2位外籍老師.

YES.  the regular local school normally have 1 or 2 English teacher.

But for DSS or private , they have more as this is one of their selling point (advantages) to provide a better environment for the kids SPEAK English in the school.  Otherwise, it seems not worth to pick DSS / private.

I visited a DSS school, they have 12 foreign English teachers.  But for the other teachers (Chinese) , I think they came from or study at overseas as their English speaking are the same as foreigner.  So I believed this DSS really try very hard to provide a good study environment of languagues for the students.

係呀, 亞女讀PLK英文直資(新界區), 我在送她返學時, 見過7-8位外籍老師, 唔知係咪全部都會教英文, 我睇亞女的TIME TABLE, 只係中文, IT無外籍老師, 咁樣小朋友應該學英文會快D.
