Should I try K1 application this year? (He will be only 2 and 9 months in September 2008), if not, then what do I do until 2009 September?
Such a headache.
Please help with any advice!

Hi Pianokc,
People say small children are less advantageous but I think differently.
Why don't you apply this year for some kindergartens that you really want your son to go to? If he's not taken, then try again next year. At least you'll know what to expect next year.
My son was born in November too. He was your son's age last year. I took him to 3 interviews and all 3 accepted him. He just started K1 last week and enjoys it very much.

Thanks bbone.
That's what I am planning to do. Apply for a few kindergartens, let him try the interviews and see what happens.
I really don't want to do another year of playgroup/nursery until he's almost 4 years old in 2009 THEN go to K1 !
Thanks!

Hi mycy,
we live in the Central-Western district. So we applied for SKH, Ling Liang Church, and Victoria CWB.

well, my first one is 4 years old daughter, she's in Kentville K2 this year. I am wondering whether to apply St. Cat an Kentville.
IF they accept, then should I let him try K1 next year? Or should I let him go to International School where they adjust the student's level according their readiness and age. Like Tutor Time.... sigh.

My girl was also born on 26/11. Last year, I planned to let her be an elder girl in her class so i firstly didn't applied any kinder for her. She was at that time studying n1 at Victtoria.
Yet, some BK ma encourage me to try some target kinder so as to let her feel the atmosphere of interviews. It's nothing to lose if fail and i could let her continue her k.1 in Victoria then apply other k.1 next (this year).
I took their advice but by that time, st. paul, SKH....all closed for application but only Sacred Heart still not yet having their deadline. I only applied this as a rehersal for my girl. She was accepted. As she was accepted and the kinder is not bad, so i let her started her k.1 this sept.
I will observe whether she catches up well or may request the school to let her repeat for 1 year at her k.1 or k.2 if not.
It was so thankful for i'd got the chance. I later realized that the birth rate of 2005 was >>>>>>that of 2004 and even i let her be an elder girl this year. She would have more competitors and may not be so easily to get a seat.
Prepare yourself psychologically, it's no big deal if not accepted (of course, u should not put too much pressure on your kid), why not try to apply one or 2?

My boy was born in Nov too. Last year, I applied 4 kindies and he got all offers. I didn't realise that it would be a problem.....
Then, he goes to K1 now and my hubby says, our boy is not as confident & independent as the others. He could perform well knowledgably but not socially. Some classmates are older than him almost for 1 year! They are smart in all the ways! (Just 2-3 small kids in his class)
So, don't hurry to get into K1! That's meaningless! If I were you, I would let the boy try one more year in pre-nursery...find a good one, has backup for K1, or try international kindergarten/playgroup!
However, I don't agree to force my boy to repeat in K1/K2. It will hurt his feeling. And not many kindies (with good reputation) would let you have this choice. Be realistic, your choice would set a bad sample to other parents and it would affect the students' intake number.
