Dear All,

我囡囡今年升P.5，她巳經考咗Flyer，拿到14個盾。想問吓各位她現在是否要考KET or PET呢? 請指點一下

If your want to gauge the progress of your daughter in English as a whole, answer is yes.

If your want the results for Secondary School Application, not really relevant, most schools which my son applied for not consider much.

請問你知否 FCE 是幾大年紀考的嗎? 囡囡剛於五月考完 PET, 拿到pass with merit, 發現它寄回來的cert 有封cover letter 寫給所有candidate, 說 : "If you have attained Pass with Merit, you are recommended to prepare for the next Cambridge exam level which is the "FCE". 所以好奇想知應否報? 會不會太深?

My son will take the FCE soon (May 2008, not December 2007, which is too close to internal examination), he is F1 and age 12. They care more on the standard rather than age. If you have problem, you can call British Council.

謝謝你的意見。我的囡囡也是今年 F1 & 12歲。我打了電話問Brithish Council, 她說 FCE 是約中五程度, 不過如果你已考取 PET pass with merit, 也可以試試。而我上網查閱考試時間, 是Dec 07 or June 08, 六月會否太近期終考試 ?
囡囡叫我下載一些 FCE 的sample, 讓她看看能否做到, 才決定考不考。
估不到, 剛升上 F1 便變了大個女.......

I think first term is critical to him to settle in the new environment and then he can take the FCE by the end of second term. I also delay him to take EPGY again, he stopped in P-6.

其實Trinity同cambridge分別大唔大呢,我囡囡現小三考左flyers有14個盾,ket就pass,咁如果考trinity又應考level幾呢,同埋應該邊樣好d又認可d架.

囝囝讀小二, 從無考過公開試，因學校無直升中學, 固打算考一個較為有用的公開試作為將來投考之用，請問:

1) 如小五時考KET, 若考到 pass 是否有用?(是否好難？)
2) 或是要考到PET才有用呢?(是否好難？)
3) 還是有其他更好的公開試?

又請問應該如何預備，如幾耐之前要預備呢？半年足夠嗎？在普通書局可以買到pass　paper 嗎？

1)若考一般中學，KET PASS 應可以了；

2)若考頂級中學，PET 只是基本需要；是否很難，不能一慨而論。若KET取 pass writh merit，考pet應很大機會合格。

3)不清楚；

一般書局都曾有pass paper買，小兒今年六月會考fce都是在一般書局買pass paper做而矣。

其實兒子只是聽老師建議考pet，其他就沒有考過，不知深淺，由於學校大多數建議學生考flyer，故相信ket合格，巳足夠考一般中學；由於去年12月考pet時，正是spcc簡介會，很多考pet的家長去聽，故相信考頂級名校pet是基本條件；兒子因考到 pet pass writh merit，故試考fce挑戰自己而矣，不為考頂級名校，而且他從網上下載paper來做，都可答對70%以上，fce 60%以上合格是C、70%是B、80%以上是A，所以我都幾有信心他取B以上成績。

其實女兒考 pet 時, 我見好多都是年紀很細 , 有些我相信是三年級左右, 已絕大部份都是五 , 六年級 . 我也嚇了一跳 , 當初以為是給大一點的學生考 , 雖然取得pass writh merit , 也不覺得有是甚麼大不了, 絕對相信很多小學生也考得到 .
