我個仔仔學校要考樂理, 所以都想佢學下, 考嘛試就最好..

If you are talking about graded theory, then it depends on the age and the practical level of the individual to judge when he should start. However, from day one the kid starts instrumental lesson, basic theory should be applied at the same time.
