I don't know. double bass is too rare to be seen

When I was a student, the double bass students in my school didn't have their own instruments.  They used the school's double basses for orchestra rehearsals and lessons in school.  Has that changed?

This tradition is mostly kept.

我學有bass比同學用，但同學自己都有的，只是不用搬來搬去

I wanna say most double bass players in HK (teenagers) usually just rent from school and play at orchestras. Which makes me wonder how much practice time they can get.

My kid is bass beginner and recruited to school orchestra at junior age when compared to other string player.

We have one at home to practice. The instruments itself is not too big when compared to piano.
It is “supporting role” forever may hinder some parents.

The practice is tiring, bass is heavy, stand for long time, 弦線好粗, 手指起”POP”
