想問問關於聖類斯小學

hi ian, thank you so much for sharing your thoughts with us.

my son is one of the lucky ones who got an offer this year from st louis.  i don't know much about this school and have been asking around.  nearly 10 out of 10 would say "its not as good as it used to be".  can you share with us why that is so?

i attended the parents seminar on nov 12, and i have to say i am very impressed with how caring the school is towards its boys.  i'm really scratching my head as to why people say so...

其實D人咁講, 係因為之前報紙有講中學要落車, 轉中中, 不過而家中學自動CUT 班, KEEP番係英中.........
BTW 六年後的事who knows?  以前我讀既st stephen's College 咪係一間band two 學校, 而家咪大把人爭入小學, 最後一屇會考仲比佢出到個10A.............. 而家只要係DSS or private, 慢慢都會因多人爭而變名校, 所以唔需要担心既, 再加上呢間學校有接近100年deal with boys 既HISTORY, 所以就算我D朋友都話佢冇以前咁好, 我都冇理, 自己睇過間學校同校長既TALK 既感覺先係真既....

Arkcocoon, I have the same feelings as you. My son is lucky enough to get an offer from few schools. However, almost all ppl say St. Louis is the last priority...The feelings I have towards St. Louis is very positive. Hard to make a decision. May be we can share via pm.

Moreover, 三年前, 我女考小學個年代, D人都話RAIMONDI, st paul's boys麻麻地, 玫瑰崗, 蘇折個D報親都入, 而家都唔同哂........... 所以如果一間小學KEEP住英普教, 有直屬中學, 又小班教學, 過多兩年又會係人們心目中升LEVEL........... 到時又會諗, 好在我係兩年前考既啫.....

絕對同意, 我相信遲幾年St Louis應該會升level....希望中學由1C去1B, 再去1A啦.... 發緊夢

D人話麻麻地係因為:
1. 中學唔係QC個D全港十大名校
2. 小學冇一年級教三年級野

我FRIEND個仔係好勁個種, 佢話呢D學校佢睇唔上眼, 只LIKE DBS 同YW &SFA 個D, 佢覺得D野咁易, 會浪費佢仔既寶貴時間..........

嘻嘻我係街坊, 成日見到SL 仔, 有時又會係D 活動見到佢地幫手. 你地放心啦, 我所見佢地出街好乖仔, 樓上樓下住左幾個, 都好有禮. 至於點解成日話佢地唔夠好, 我估係呢區同埋隔離net 12無論中學定小學, 都太多好學校啦, 大部份仲要唔使錢果隻. 而且好多人都睇硬體, 佢地又真係樸實得好緊要.

我係個D想阿仔一年級學一年級野, 千祈唔好打擊自信個D冇咁有志氣既媽咪, 我想佢LANGUAGE OK, 學術啱程度, 有間BAND ONE 唔理頭定尾既英中做吓backup  就OK啦... 我更希望阿仔有時間係st louis 個球場度踢球, 係學校學下空手道, 開開心心讀書, 千祈唔好要我做大壞人逼到佢透唔到氣, 番學番到想死........ 希望佢做個識分是非黑白, 照顧到自己, 我就開心啦....

Hi Arkcocoon,

I don't know if I am appropriate to give any suggestions because obviously I know too well of what has happened.  One key issue really is both the school itself and the school sponsoring organization are too 'low-profile".  As a result, in today's society where people prefer to have more publicity, the school lost the edge on attracting students.  What this has affected is the quality of S1 intakes so this hurts the school on the image to outsiders.

As I have returned to help the school in the past few years, you would find there are more information being shared but this will take many years to revitalize the image.  I can totally understand why some parents would have that impressions and I also respect that.  At the end, it is impossible for this school to be so high-profile as other schools since it is definitely not the style of the school.  We are more down to earth and that is the fact.  We have no intention to change it but I do think sharing of information in reasonable manners is good for both the parents, students and the school itself.  Hope the parents can understand this too.

佢個仔未考架, 下年先考.......
不過佢有個大既係某小學讀精靈班, 佢會叫個小朋友唔好同輔導班D人玩架.........
其實而家好多家長都係咁, 我個朋友今年個仔考間間都REJECT哂, 佢先想喊咁同我講, 同幼稚園有個媽咪個仔考間間都有2nd in 同offer, 竟然同佢講: 吓! 咩你個仔係大仔考一間都唔入呀?  
你話幾hurt?.......

what a quick reply!  Hope you didn't wait too long for me to reply, sorry that I really cannot attend EK all day long to make the responses sooner.

Thanks for the appreciation but just like all the old boys working with me, we all felt we have the responsibility to support the school.  We are who we are because of the valuable education we received from this school.  It is the traditional of the school value that we need to protect.  Hope you and your son would agree with that too, and if so, then you would have found the right school for him.

p.s. I think I will continue to support the school as an old boy, with many more years to come.
