My daughter is from Abacus as well. May I know your result of SJS?  and is RC your first target?
I did heard that they will have 2nd, 3rd rounds, try to talk to your class teacher and don't miss the rounds coming, and Bless you!

In case chance of entering esf primary is so slim, would you still recommend esf kiddy?

I 'm considering ESF Tsing Yi in the hope to go to KJS. My other option is Anfield which is closer to home.

As far as I know, no Anfield kids have interview chance at of this moment this year.  To play safe, you are better to choose ESF kinder.
KJS is easier to get a place than BHS as past record.  So you can try try.

Do you know why KJS is easier to get in? Is it because kids in BHS have better conduct.

We will very likely choose esf kinddy esp after your advice.

hi, Hylda.

If your target school is ESF primary, of course it is better to send your kid into a ESF kinder.  But you have to understand the admission policy of ESF that a year 1 place is not guaranteed.  For my gal, who is a cat. 2 pupil studying in ESF Tsing Yi, she got no interview offer from KJS due to the over-subscription from Cat.1 kids.  Luckily, she got an offer from RC.  So, I will go for RC and wait for news from KJS (maybe it takes years before an offer is given).   
For cat.2 kids applying BHS, the situation is better as they at least have an interview chance.

SJS? no offer at all. They said unable to offer the place in 2011.

ESF primary application is based on living zone.  According to sharing with other mummy these few years, the subscription of KJS is much less than BHS so the chance to get a place is higher

KJS has 5 classes while BHS has 3 only, would it be the reason for better chance to get in?
I don't think the conduct would be bad for both schools.  I only know BHS should have more Chinese and KJS has more Indians.

As i know, this year BHS took some kids who from Anfield and Kentville, even they are in Cat.2.  They are straight in, don't need to put on wait list.

Yes, ESF primary application is based on living zone.  But this year most of the Cat.2 kids and some Cat. 1 kids in Tsing Yi, got no interview offer from KJS due to the over-subscription from Cat.1 kids.  Cause this year the catchment zone for KJS is cover Tung Chung and Ma Wan.  So, you can tell how many western kids will apply for KJS.
For cat.2 kids applying BHS, at least have an interview chance.

Frances is on leave, she won't be back after July.
I don't mind if they can offer any place in any ESF school.
However, learnt from a parent, her son had no offer last year. Finally ...

I know Frances is on leave but I thought she said she is coming back after Easter, I don't know whether Alex can help you.  But like other parents say, talk to your class teacher.

I have known at least 2 Cat 1 students who has been asked to repeat K2 in ESF because they don't think his social skills were mature enough to be in P1.  So repeating K2 doesn't apply to Cat 2 students only.

The competition between KJS and BHS depends on how many cat 1 applicants they get in each school every year.  There are more seats available in KJS P1 than BHS P1, making it easier to get in sometimes. It doesn't really matter which school they go to, students from both school end up in KGV for secondary anyways.

我仔不是cat 1,也不是cat 2,不是讀ESF kinder,所以BHS連interview都沒有,RC有得in,但沒有offer.

ESF真的很難入.去年阿仔的師姐A(同我仔同一幼稚園,但大一年)有哥哥在KJS讀書的,都冇收,最後是今年己開學才做到插班生.

另一師姐B(又是同一幼稚園,但大一年)是持美國護照的(在美國出生),因11月才申請入學,故一直沒有位,最後是6月期間由Shatin Junior收了.

我們都是住同一屋苑的,是BHS的zone的.所以我知我仔入ESF的機會,其實是0.

大家俾心機,ESF KINDER的小朋友如果冇offer,有什麼打算嗎?

Category One
Children who speak English as a first or alternative language but do not speak Cantonese and/or read and write Chinese characters.不是啦!我仔是地道香港人.


Category Two
Children who can access the local system but who also meet ESF's entrance requirements.
Within each category priority for interview will be given to students who:

• are siblings of children already attending an ESF school;沒有
• are attending an ESF Educational Services Ltd Kindergarten (for Year One only);不是
• are former students returning from a period overseas;不是
• have a parent who is a full-time employee of ESF;更不是,係就好
• are the children of former ESF students.不是

坦白講, CAT2+NON ESF KINDER STUDENT+跟學校無關係都入到ESF都大有人在, 而且是第1RD就直入,我睇面試表現都很重要
